Halloween: that great Vincentian tradition (eh?)

ESPECIALLY FOR CRISTOBEL AND HALLAYALLAYALLAY SINCE THEY WOULD LOVE THIS CRAP ☺

My mother (bless her) decided that we needed to have a Halloween party. Her reasoning was this: Lila is half Canadian, therefore needs to celebrate Canadian traditions as well as Vincentian. I don’t think any one of us really knows if Halloween is a Canadian tradition or not. I think it was just an excuse to have a theme night.

Because we all work, and aren’t really into the whole Halloween thing, everyone’s costumes were pretty much concocted an hour before the actual fete. Everyone, that is, except Mum’s, Dad’s, Lila’s and Logan’s. They were all store bought by Mum & Dad last month at Walgreen’s (go figure).

A few people didn’t even bother to make/get costumes. Sistren made up for it by baking a delectable pumpkin pie and Halloween cookies. Everyone else was just boring. Ah well.

Here’re my picks for costume awards from the night:

Cutest Costume: Logan as Superman (next year we’ll make him Wolverine since that’s his namesake).

Best Costume with Medical Paraphernalia: Mel as a doctor (but she’s really trained as a nurse).

Best Cop-Out Costume: a tie between Mum’s Walgreen’s witch hat and Dad’s creepy clown mask – I mean come on, they just had to place these things on their heads!

Best Fairy Tale Character Over 40: Judy as Little Red Riding Hood (several years after the infamous big bad wolf incident).

Most Precious Costume: Lila as a Disney Princess (with shoes that twinkle when she walks).

Best Gypsy Costume: Aya as a gypsy (with a tummy ache… sigh).

Sexiest Costume: a tie between Soph as Super Soph and Naz as a Goth/Wench/Witch type thing (of Miss Punny & Corporal Nasty fame)

Punniest Costume: Me as Greece Lightning (major costume malfunctions throughout the evening).

Best Costume That Uses Batteries: Robert as a Land Rover (with only one taillight because every Land Rover you see here only has one taillight working - he actually had a working taillight on the thing).

Best Overall Costume: Robert as a Land Rover (who’d a thunk?).

Best Decorating: Bops who went to my parents’ house in the morning and covered it in homemade Halloween decorations.

Most Boring Costume: a tie between everyone else that came (they don’t get their names mentioned because they didn’t wear costumes).
